David Rock-Muralist

About the Artist

David Rock began painting murals in 1983 at the Bronx zoo. In 1988 David became an independent artist, painting murals in zoos and museums. His company is now called David Rock Studios. He’s a member of AZA, the Association of Zoos & Aquariums. Today, David Rock’s mural artwork can be seen in 33 states, as well as Canada, Mexico, Portugal, Kuwait, and in a Royal Caribbean Cruise Liner.

Specializing in realistic landscape murals painted with airbrush and brushwork, David is able to create artwork very quickly and with great depth. He has painted on canvas, plaster, drywall, glass, wood, and glazed murals on ceramic tile. The largest single mural he has done is over 10,000 square feet. The smallest is less than 10 square feet.

David Rock is based in Sisters, Oregon. Most of David’s artwork is produced on-site, so he travels with his wife, Rose, a zoologist, and their dog, Jack, an average of 9 months out of the year painting murals.
